Paint your Self Portrait
Take on the exciting challenge of painting your self portrait in this session at Inglis Academy.
About this session
Get to know your real self as you paint your idealised self in a ravishing self portrait!
Whether you decide to go for objective reality or a romanticised vision, the path to that expression is built on the ability to see abstracted, objective reality.
This is a two session project held over two consecutive weekends.
Session 1
- 12 - 2 pm: Sketch your face several times.
- Get the basic proportions and placement of your facial features correct.
- See the shapes within your eyes, nose and lips.
- 2 - 4 p.m: Do a sketch painting with line and tone
Session 2
- Add all the glorious skin colours to your painting
- Develop the textures of your hair and clothing
Basic proportions and placement of the facial features.
First you will sketch your face a few times, getting the basic proportions and placement of the facial features correct.
Then you will learn to see the actual shaped in your eyes, nose and mouth.
Then we will paint all of this, basically in grey, and develop the tones to create form.
In the second session we will add colour and texture to the skin, eyes, hair and jewellery.
