One of my artistic passions is to learn the style of a master painter, and then create more works in that style. This is one way that Western Culture is kept alive and relevant. My Vermeer will obviously be different to Vermeer's Vermeer.

The intent is not to copy, but rather to recreate the works, or work in the spirit of the original.

I go to great lengths to understand the style and technique of the master painters, and have so far published 28 books explaining the techniques and concepts of Western Art and Music.

This is analogous to the way classical musicians perform. They study the style and then recreate the works in the present with spontaneity and presence. (Click here to see and hear some of my work in the domain of music.)

In 2003 Scarlett Johansson starred in a movie about the painting, which ceratainly elevated awareness of the piece in the public consciousness.
