Sydney Opera House

Paint the 8th wonder of the world, the iconic Sydney Opera House. In this painting we will learn how to simplify the complex shapes of the Opera House sails and create the mood of an enchanted evening!

Danish architect Jorn Utzon designed this architectural marvel inspired by the sailboats which pepper Sydney harbour on the typical Aussie sunny day.

We start with a sketch painting which gives us insight into the interlocking geometric shapes.

Here is my source image which I took with a small Minolta as a time-exposure way back in 1978!
