John Myatt - master artist.

One of my main inspirations for teaching masterworks to beginners was the work of John Myatt.

John Myatt is possibly the most sucessful art forger in history. He was commissioned to paint reproductions of hundreds of masterwork paintings, which were later sold as originals by a third party. Hundreds of these works were authenticated and sold at auction houses such as Sothebys and Christies. Eventually he was charged with art forgery, convicted and served time in prison.

When he was released the BBC commissioned a series of ten television shows from him "Mastering the Art". In these shows, John took three artists and in just one day taught them how to paint in the style of great masters of western art.
